SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) partner, Ma. Patricia B. Paz, authored the Philippine Chapter of the CMS Guide on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgements and Arbitration Awards (Southeast Asia Edition). This is part of a collaboration between SyCipLaw and CMS, an international law firm with more than 70 offices in over 40 countries.
The guide covers other Southeast Asian jurisdictions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. It provides an overview of the conditions for the enforcement both of court judgments and arbitral awards in Southeast Asia, and aims to assist parties when making decisions on jurisdiction, seat of arbitration, and dispute resolution clauses when negotiating and drafting contracts. It is the latest enforcement publication of CMS.
Ma. Patricia B. Paz is a partner and a member of SyCipLaw’s litigation and arbitration group. She has represented clients in all levels of the Philippine judiciary, before international and domestic arbitral tribunals, and in proceedings before various regulatory agencies. SyCipLaw associate Gilda Patrizia A. Veluya assisted in the preparation of the Philippine chapter.
