The SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) community consoles with the family of retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Carolina C. Griño-Aquino who passed away on 24 December 2012. She was 89.
Justice Griño-Aquino lived a life of integrity and excellence. She topped the Bar Exams with a grade of 92.02% in 1950 and became SyCipLaw’s first female partner in 1968.
In 1971, she withdrew from the partnership for a life of public service. She later became Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeals and the fourth woman named to the Supreme Court after she was appointed by President Corazon C. Aquino. After her retirement, she continued to serve as the first Chairperson of the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee and as panel chair of several Supreme Court administrative investigations.
In death, she will continue to serve as an inspiration to us all.
