September 26, 2024
SyCipLaw Partner Jose Florante M. Pamfilo contributed the Philippine chapter in the latest edition of “ESG in APAC”. The publication is a collaboration between Slaughter and May and leading independent law firms in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. It is intended to guide businesses on the current environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulatory landscape in 16 APAC jurisdictions, including the commonalities and direction of travel in relation to three key themes: ESG reporting requirements, transition planning, and greenwashing risks.
The Philippine chapter provides an overview of the key themes in the Philippine context and expounds on significant updates and developments as of June 2024, especially in the area of ESG reporting. These developments include the formulation of the Philippine Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Guidelines, the proposed adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards for disclosure of sustainability-related and climate-related financial information, and plans to introduce a revised sustainability reporting guidelines for publicly listed companies.
