SyCipLaw contributed to the Philippine chapter of the guide titled "Expanding Opportunity: A Guide to Impact Investing in Southeast Asia." The chapter was prepared by SyCipLaw partners Vicente D. Gerochi IV, Jose Florante M. Pamfilo, special counsel Catherina M. Fernandez, and associates Patrick Edward L. Balisong and John Stephen B. Pangilinan.
The publication is a project of Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and TrustLaw, the global pro bono legal service network of Thomson Reuters Foundation, with the support of law firms in jurisdictions covered by the guide.
The guide outlines local impact investing structures and regulations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. It aims to assist social enterprises, incubators, and investors in navigating local regulations and fostering greater investment in regional startups and their social missions.
In a video interview, the contributors gave a brief overview of the key steps involved in impact investing in the Philippines.
