Norton Rose Fulbright's 2022 and ninth edition of Insurance regulation in Asia Pacific - Ten things to know about 20 countries is now available. The guide provides an overview and practical checklist of ten common regulatory issues for insurance companies. The Philippine chapter was contributed by SyCipLaw partner Hiyasmin H. Lapitan with the assistance of partner Joan Mae S. To-Conejos and associate Roman George P. Castillo.
The guide provides information on a jurisdiction's regulator, permissions for foreign insurers, restrictions on foreign direct investment, notifications or approvals for change of control, nature of the capital regime, group supervision and policyholder protection, and outsourcing. Aside from the Philippines, other jurisdictions covered include Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Information is up to date as of January 1, 2022.
