Jericho R. Tiu
Jericho R. Tiu is a member of the firm’s litigation and arbitration group. His practice includes commercial disputes before local courts, quasi-judicial bodies, and both local and international arbitral tribunals, as well as white collar criminal investigations and prosecutions before the Department of Justice and other administrative agencies. He has dispute resolution experience in the highly regulated sectors of water, energy, mining, maritime, and environmental protection. He also has experience in securing and resisting applications for provisional remedies before local courts and arbitral tribunals, both ad hoc and institutional.
His portfolio of cases include, among others, representing toll way and water companies in rate rebasing disputes before the Permanent Court of Arbitration; representing a project owner in construction arbitrations before the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre; representing a distributor in arbitration against a big confectionery conglomerate before the Singapore International Arbitration Centre; representing the country’s largest power distribution public utility company in anti-trust litigation before the Energy Regulatory Commission; representing mining companies before the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, and the Panel of Arbitrators; successfully defending officers and officials of international corporations and organizations in local criminal actions; advising foreign companies in a national public inquiry on the human rights implications of climate change conducted by the Commission on Human Rights; and representing joint venture agreements in bidding disputes involving agencies of the Philippine government.
Mr. Tiu is also a member of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators.
