Elijah Joseph A. Mateo is a member of the Firm’s Litigation and Arbitration, Employment and Immigration, and Intellectual Property departments.

Elijah Joseph (or EJ) handles civil, criminal, and commercial cases before the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and various trial courts. He also handles cases before administrative and quasi-judicial agencies such as the Department of Justice, the Department of Trade and Industry – Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau, the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commission on Audit. He has also assisted in cases before the Philippine Construction Industry Arbitration Commission. Since joining the Firm, EJ has had experience in intra-corporate litigation, settlement of estate proceedings, enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, bail proceedings, among others.

His labor and employment practice includes representing clients before the National Labor Relations Commission, the Department of Labor and Employment, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board, and labor arbiters. He also has experience in advising clients on various employment-related issues, such as labor standards, labor relations, and immigration matters. EJ has likewise conducted seminars and workshops for clients on labor and industrial relations, labor standards, and disciplinary proceedings.

As a member of the intellectual property group, EJ handles various matters such as review of franchise agreements and technology transfer arrangements, trademark prosecution, trademark opposition proceedings, portfolio management, and enforcement proceedings.
