Austin Claude S. Alcantara is a member of the Firm’s Litigation and Arbitration, Intellectual Property, and Tax departments.

Austin has more than a decade of experience handling various dispute resolution matters before all levels of the Philippine judiciary including the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Court of Tax Appeals, and the Sandiganbayan (graft court). He has also represented various clients before the Department of Justice, the Philippine Construction Industry Arbitration Commission, the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, the Department of Trade and Industry, and ad hoc arbitral tribunals.

Austin is adept at all stages of civil, criminal, and commercial dispute resolution, and has represented multinational clients in complex multi-million-dollar cases. Austin has:

  • assisted in the settlement of estates involving hundreds of millions of Philippine pesos;
  • advised foreign clients in a national public inquiry on the human rights implication of climate change;
  • represented a multinational company in a proceeding involving the environmental impact of the packaging of its products;
  • acted for a foreign corporation for the enforcement of a foreign judgment in the Philippines;
  • advised a foreign corporation on all possible litigation-related issues in its acquisition of several corporations across Southeast Asia; and
  • represented foreign corporations in the recovery of illegally collected taxes and the protection of their trademarks.
