Trademark Paralegal

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist IP lawyers concerning trademarks and copyrights.
  2. Draft legal correspondence to various IP clients for lawyer’s review.
  3. Prepare and file trademark-related documents with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) via online (i.e. trademark applications, Declarations of Actual Use, Renewal and Recordals).
  4. Conduct trademark searches on the availability of mark/s for use and registration.
  5. Conduct follow-ups with the IPO on the status and release of documents such as Trademark Certificate of Registration, Certificate for Correction, Notices of Recordation and Acceptance, as necessary.
  6. Answer clients’ trademark-related queries.
  7. Prepare summaries and status reports for trademark cases for clients.
  8. Follow up status of IP cases with the Bureau of Legal Affairs.
  9. Prepare documents needed for filing to secure a Certificate of Copyright registration.
  10. Monitor new memoranda and circulars published by the IPO, and update the department accordingly.
  11. Perform other jobs in the Department that may be assigned.

Requirements:

Education: Graduate of any 4 – year course, relevance to law practice preferred
Experience: With 3 years work experience in trademark application, prosecution, and maintenance of trademarks. Experience in assisting lawyers is an advantage
