Spencer M. Albos


Spencer M. Albos is an associate of SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) and a member of its Litigation Department.

Mr. Albos assists multinational and local clients on various administrative, civil, criminal, and commercial matters, including real and personal property disputes, money claims, contract and corporate issues, customs concerns, rehabilitation and liquidation proceedings, and family-related legal problems. He represents clients in the Office of the City Prosecutor, Department of Justice, trial courts, appellate courts, including the Supreme Court, and quasi-judicial agencies.

Previously, Mr. Albos handled several other legal matters in the Firm's other departments.

He handled labor administrative matters for various multinational and local clients in a variety of industries (e.g., financial market data, financial services, automotive, air transport, logistics, infrastructure, legal services, home products, food, export, etc.). He also represented various clients in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court. He advised clients on various corporate employment concerns such as management prerogatives, labor and industrial relations, labor standards, labor compliance, secondment and assignment of employees, collective bargaining, retirement, and employee termination.

Mr. Albos was part of the Firm's team who prepared a tax codal integrating the amendments introduced by the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law (TRAIN Law) on the National Internal Revenue Code. He also represented multinational and local clients in tax cases in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), trial courts, and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court.

Mr. Albos also advised multinational and local clients on work permit and visa requirements and assisted in clients' applications for work permits with the DOLE, and tourist and work visas with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Mr. Albos also handled several corporate services retainer accounts involving multinational and local clients in various industries such as automotive and air transport, and he reviewed various kinds of civil and commercial agreements and related documents.

Mr. Albos has also transacted with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), BIR, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Social Security System (SSS), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to assist clients in complying with regulatory and reportorial requirements. He also conducted various due diligence works for various clients and transactions.

In 2021, the Firm awarded him the citation of Pro Bono Champion 2020 for Senior Associate/Associate Category.

Aside from being a lawyer, Mr. Albos is also a licensed professional teacher. He currently teaches Legal Method, a subject on legal research, analysis, and writing, to first-year law students in the University of the Philippines - College of Law.
