IFLR Special Focus on Philippines FDI: “The way forward”

The May 2017 issue of the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) included several articles focusing on Asia fintech and Philippines FDI. In the article entitled “The way forward”, SyCipLaw partner Simeon Ken R. Ferrer and associate Ricardo Jesus E. Gutierrez look at some recent changes in the definition of corporate governance, which have helped emphasize the responsibilities of boards of directors.

Simeon Ken R. Ferrer heads the firm’s Corporate Services Department. His practice areas include banking, finance and securities; foreign investments; mergers and acquisitions; and corporations. He assists foreign investors in structuring their direct investments in the Philippines, including through special economic zone facilities, joint ventures, subsidiaries and branches. He acts as director, corporate secretary, or assistant corporate secretary of various Philippine and multinational corporations engaged in diverse economic activities.

Ricardo Jesus E. Gutierrez is a member of the firm’s banking, finance and securities; special projects; and intellectual property practice groups. His practice areas include banking and finance regulations, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, investments, technology, franchising and distribution, and arbitration.
